Initial Consultation
You will be asked to fill out a preliminary medical history form. At our meeting, you will be able to tell me what your symptoms are and what you are looking for in terms of treatment, care and support. I will ask how committed you are to your health and what impact the symptoms might have on your quality of life if they continue. Our relationship requires both of us to be dedicated to your health and well-being. (Remember, the doctor cannot do what the patient won't.)

If you are in an acute crisis, a brief exam of your tongue and pulse along with an acupuncture treatment will follow, and you will be given some nutritional or herbal supplementation necessary to move you out of crisis.

If you are not in crisis or when you are out of crisis, I will give you in-depth medical history and lifestyle summary forms including a dietary review to fill out and bring to your next visit. During this consultation, we will be gathering information through saliva testing, physical exam, tongue and pulse readings to determine how your body is responding to your current stress. I then will coach you on preparing for the next visit. This includes teaching you how to take your morning saliva and urine PH, and some functional thyroid tests, for the next 7 days. You will also learn how to prepare for collecting your urine the morning prior to your next visit.

We will retest you every 3-6 weeks to monitor your treatments and supplements. This is designed to track your improvement. This initial session could take half an hour, or as long as an hour and a half depending on your particular case.
Clinical Testing
I utilize clinical testing of urine, saliva, blood and stool to provide a clear, objective analysis of your condition.
Report of Findings
You will receive the results of your clinical tests and a thorough evaluation of their implications in your current health picture. Based on these findings, I will explain a course of treatment.
Followup Consultations
These hour-long sessions include ongoing nutritional consulting and, if needed, acupuncture to keep you moving in the optimal direction until maintainence can be established. We might take some time to discuss the foods you eat and the supplements that you are currently taking. By doing this, we can begin to see how your body is nourished or undernourished. Through the use of frequent metabolic testing of urine and saliva, we can rapidly focus on areas of deficiency and excess, along with having an opportunity to monitor your improvement. Bring your kitchen cabinet of vitamins and herbal remedies and we will go through them to see which ones are truly effective. These sessions are highly educational and might also include massage therapy or relaxation counseling.
Dr. Sara has the means to show you exactly how your body is functioning at the moment.

As you commit to taking the targeted nutrients and retesting as needed, you can see and feel the difference.
