"When I approach any health concern, my focus is on the entire being, the whole person. I am committed to making a difference by providing my patients with a well rounded, rich and positive healthcare experience. The educational experience that each patient receives is uniquely tailored. If the patient is willing to incorporate new habits and be coachable then they will experience a healthier life. The educational experience will endure past our meeting, becoming embodied, improving and optimizing health and well-being." Dr. Sara Kendall Gordon, L. Ac., DAOM serves as your doctor, coach, counselor and medical detective to uncover the root cause of your condition and support you in the process of restoring your health. As a Doctor in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Gordon practices Integrative Alternative Medicine with an emphasis on Functional Medicine, women's health, men's healthy aging, optimizing brain function, immune enhancement, digestive wellness/food allergies, detoxification, and endocrine issues such as: blood sugar stabilization, chronic fatigue and thyroid imbalances. Her protocols incorporate acupuncture with traditional Chinese and western herbal medicine, dietary advice and nutritional supplements, as well as biomagnetic therapy. With over 16 years of experience in Bioresonance muscle testing, Dr. Gordon tests for effectiveness and tolerability of each remedy, tailoring her protocols specifically to your body and mind. Dr. Gordon's natural gift of sensitivity was first developed in relationship to the physical body through dancing. Her interests naturally expanded to include the healthful practices necessary to support the intense demands of peak physical performance. She became an avid student of nutrition and herbology. As an artist, she became aware that health goes much deeper than mere physical functioning and she began meditating in 1979. After performing for over 13 years professionally, being a part of an adagio dance team for 8 of those years, she transitioned into the healing arts profession in 1987. Dr. Gordon studied with great interest the interconnection of all the organs and systems within the body and how they interact with each other and our environment through the philosophies of Western Functional Medicine and Asian medicine and spirituality. For 30 years, she has been profoundly impacted by the influence of the rich traditions of Advaita Vedanta, Zen Buddhism, Taoism, Buddhist Tantra, and Western Esoteric Wisdom. The spiritual teacher, Adyashanti, gave her the name Pralaya, meaning stillness, and with her whole heart she assisted him and the Open Gate Sangha for five years as student, teacher and founding member on the board of directors. Her heart was called to open, feel and uncover who we are as beings and what true medicine actually is. This brought her to intensively train for three years with Neil Steven Cohen. Going deep into feeling awareness, profound openings occurred and revealed how the body and mind, personality and soul come into union as a loving continuum. Dr. Gordon is certified by Neil Steven Cohen in Psychospiritual Integrative Awakening, as well as certified by Judith Blackstone, PhD. in the Realization Process: Embodiment Teaching and by Charles Ridley in Biodynamic Cranial Touch. Psychospiritual development is naturally woven into her treatments for patients, and offered to students through classes and couples sessions as well as one-on-one trainings on the phone and in person. Dr. Gordon received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Five Branches University, San Jose, California in 2009. She holds a Master's Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. She received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Ballet with a Musical Theater emphasis from the University of Utah. Dr. Gordon also brings to her practice training from the California School of Medical Science (Swedish massage, shiatsu, deep tissue bodywork), and the Transpersonal Hypnotherapy Institute (transpersonal hypnotherapy, transpersonal NLP, and medical hypnosis). Dr. Sara Kendall Gordon, L. Ac., DAOM is the author of BodyWisdom, a workbook and video home study course available through the Transpersonal Hypnotherapy Institute in Vista, Colorado. |
